Air Fried Copycat Chick-Fil-A Chicken

How many times have you craved a Chick-fil-a chicken sandwich or nuggets?  The only problem is they are fried and full of fat and other additives.  This is why I was so excited to recreate this healthier, make-at-home recipe so I could enjoy the taste, without all the extra calories.

You can pair this recipe with my Homemade Air Fried French Fries … or try  Alexia Organic Crinkle Cut Fries with a Touch of Sea Salt at only 120 calories per serving.

Ingredients:

Protein:

  • 1 Lb Chicken Breasts (you may cut into 1-inch chunks, if you like) or 1 Pound Chicken Tenderloins

  • Brine:

    • 50 Grams Liquid Egg Whites or 1 Large Egg

    • ½ Cup Dill Pickle Juice

Seasoning Mixture:

  • 1 ¼ Cups Almond or Oat Flour

  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Ground Black Pepper

  • ¼ Tsp Cayenne Pepper

  • 1 Tsp Paprika

  • 1 Tsp Himalayan Pink Salt

Instructions:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine egg whites/egg and dill pickle juice.

  • Place chicken in the bowl, cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.  You may also marinate overnight.  When you are ready to prepare the chicken, remove it to the counter for about 30 minutes to let the chicken come to room temperature.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.

  • In another shallow bowl, combine flour, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika and salt.

  • Dredge chicken through seasoning mixture, fully coating.

  • Place chicken in the air fryer on 400 degrees for approximately 15 minutes, or until cooked through.  If you are making nuggets or tenderloins, your cook time may be shorter.

If making a “Chick-fil-a” sandwich, consider using Dave's Killer Bread burger buns and add your pickle slices!
